way baCk in the 9th century, when kaldi chewed on the first coffee cherries, he probably had no idea of the great discovery he’d just made. today, almost 1200 years later, ethiopia is world renowned not only for being the origin of coffe, but also for producing some of the finest and most exotic beans in the world.
There are so many things we want to do in Ethiopia, that we’ve made it one day longer than our previous trips. You will get a chance to see how coffee is grown, harvested and proceseed in Ethopia. We will also have daily cupping sessions with coffees from local farmers and, of course, we’ll have SCA courses at different levels and in different modules.
Arrival in Addis Ababa We’ll arrange for you to be picked up at the airport and driven to the hotel. Later that day well go out for an early dinner and a couple of beers - which we’ve always found to be a great way go break the ice!
Rise and shine! After a hearty breakfast, we’ll get on the bus and drive to DAYE BENSA’S washing station which will be our base camp for the next few days. We will have tour the facilities and in the afternoon settle into the hotel.
We’ve called this day “Ethiopian Coffee Day"!” - and our plan is to do a full immersion into Ethiopian coffee. throughout the day, we will be visiting local farmers, and we’ll get to see how they harvest and process their coffee.
These will be our intensive education days. As we start booking places for the trip, we will start to work on a detailed training schedule to make sure you get the most out out of the training days in Ethiopia. Our emphasis will be on Sensory, Roasting and Green Coffee.

In the morning we will have our final cupping sessions, and then take the drive back to Addis.
:( So sad to see you go! This will be the last day of our Ethiopia 2019 Coffee Voyage. We’ll have buses moving you all from the airport to the hotel.
