The 3 Coffee Guys

A passion for specialty coffee, a love of education, and a great friendship is what bonds us together. Hailing from different corners of the world, each of us contributes to this magnificent project with our own background, experience, culture and personality.

Patrick O’Malley

A coffee guru if there’s ever been one, Patrick’s 30+ years of experience in specialty coffee have earned him world-wide recognition as a master Roaster, Cupper and coffee all-rounder.

A native of Arizona, Patrick travels the world making coffee better, all of this while running 3 very successful coffee companies in the US: Infusion Coffee & Tea, Espresso Italia and International Barista & Coffee Academy (IBCA- USA).

Damian Burgess

Our Kiwi Barista Extraordinaire is head trainer at Caffé Vergnano, in Turin since 2008. Passionate about coffee, and always full of energy and good humor, Damian makes sure we’re all on the bus on time, all smiling for the perfect picture, and especially learning and having a great time.

He’s also our official english-italian-english translator as well as honorary director of European Travel Operations.

Ricardo Villegas

Colombian to the core, Ricardo has been roasting specialty coffee since 2003. He’s been our man on the ground for our first two coffee voyages and has also hosted us at his company, Tecnocafé, in Bogotá for our roasting training.

A passionate educator and dedicated entrepreneur, Ricardo has been training baristas, roasters and cuppers for well over a decade.

back in 2017

we had our first Coffee Voyage to historic Hacienda Misiones, in the town of El Colegio, Cundinamarca, Colombia. Fourteen baristas, roasters and coffee lovers joined us on this one week adventure where we learned about the coffee process from the seed to the cup. We offered a one-of-a-kind learning experience, with SCA certified courses and hands-on experience inside coffee plantations, milling compounds and roasting facilities.

That’s when the 3 Coffee Guys project came to life.

It turned out to be a unique experience for the Coffee Voyagers and ourselves, for the educational experience, as well as for the cultural exchange and the lifelong friendships that were built during the week.

It was so wonderful, that we organized a new trip in May 2019 - this time with 19 people from all over the world, and it turned our even better than we planned.

Now, we’re taking this project global. We have confirmed dates for Honduras (Feb 2-9, 2019) and we’re working on a 3rd Colombia trip for October.

After that, who knows… Asia, Africa…? We’d love to have you join us in one of our next trips. We’ll give it our all to make it a truly exceptional experience.
